How to Bathe a Baby

  • Assemble two towels, two washcloths, baby soap and shampoo, a clean diaper, clothes and a blanket in the bathroom.

  • Fill the bathtub with warm (not hot) water.

  • Wash the head and shampoo the scalp before putting the baby into a tub. Rinse and pat dry.

  • Lay the baby on the counter and unbundle her. Clean the diaper area with a washcloth before placing her in the bathtub.

  • Once your baby is in the tub, hold her head in one hand. Wash her body with soap and a second clean washcloth.
